The national flag of Nepal is the world’s only traingular national flag.  It is the only non quadrilateral flag in the world.The color of the flag is the combination of white,  crimson red and blue colors. The crimson red color is the color fo rhododendron, which is the national flower of Nepal as well. The blue border is considered as the color or peace. The color has moon and sun in the 1st and second leaf of flag. Until 1962, the moon and sun had human faces but were removed in the current version.

The individuual pennants was used for the preceding two centuries and double pennant since 19th century. The original version has the same design as the original version which was used for 200 years,  but without the human faces.

Symbolism

The flag was designed in the era fo Prithivi Narayan Shan and was adopted after he unified all the small sub states of Nepal. The current version of flag is symbolizing the following things. The blue border symbolizes peace and harmony. The crimson red indicates the brave spirits of Nepalese people who has sacrificed their life in past for Nepal. The two triangles symbolize the Himalaya Mountains. The depiction of celestial bodies represents permanence, the hope that Nepal will last as long as the sun and the moon remains on the earth.
The moon indicates the calmness of Nepalese people the cool weather of Himalayas. The sun symbolizes the fierce resolve and the heat and the high temperature at the Terai.
